Gong Girls

The Division 2 Australian Ultimate Championships were held on April 1st and 2nd in Wollongong, NSW. 560 players across 36 teams competed in the 2 day event with the women’s division including 16 teams from across the country. The tournament was a first for Kaos with the Gong Girls representing the club at the Div 2 national tournament for the first time.

Conditions on Day 1 were almost perfect (wind is a gift!) with Kaos playing 3 games. An unlucky draw saw the team up against Living the Dream (who went on to place 3rd) in game 1. Game 2 against the Hills was live streamed (YouTube link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kqkR6Qj5Nbw). Everybody’s spirit soared knowing family and friends back home in Perth were watching and cheering the team on! Unfortunately there were no wins on Day 1 but the whole team came away having given their best and learnt some valuable lessons ready for Day 2.

The seasons fines were handed down on Saturday night as well as the song selections for the warm-up playlist! No surprises came when it was revealed Jasmine had picked the Backstreet Boys, but the biggest upset of the night was Audrey’s song selection – Hey Baby (DJ Otzi)!!

Day 2 was even windier than Day 1! Everyone’s determination and motivation shone through with a stellar comeback from the first days results! Back to back wins over the whole day (15-1, 11-7 and 9-3) saw Kaos place 9th overall! The team were stoked to beat their seed position (10th). A massive congratulations to the team’s captain, Sabrina Moro, who placed 2nd for Female MVP! We are all extremely proud of you!

It was a fantastic weekend of Frisbee, Friendship and Fun! Everyone gave 110% and the team returned to Perth winners!
