On the 4-5th March WAFDA hosted the annual Western Regionals tournament outside of the metro area for the first time. Kaos entered 3 women’s teams for the weekend in Margaret River; Kaos Blue (Division 1 nationals team), Kaos White (Division 2 nationals team) and Soak, a team of alumni, new and regional players.
All 3 teams put on excellent performances over the 2-day tournament with Kaos Blue taking home the championship over Kaos White who came runners up. Soak finished 4th overall behind rival club Sisko Purple.
Conditions were challenging on Saturday with temperatures in the mid-30s and a strong wind from game 1. All teams played 3 or 4 games that day and were rewarded with some cold beverages at a local Margaret River establishment as part of an intraclub social gathering with Sisko.
Sunday saw the warm temperatures return but without the breeze. Kaos White won a nail-biter of a semi final over Sisko Purple to advance to the Grand Final on the afternoon of day 2 against Kaos Blue.
The final score of the grand final was 15-3. Sabrina Moro, the captain of Kaos White, said winning their semi-final ‘was the best birthday present ever’.
Well done to all our players, coaches and supporters for a fantastic weekend.
Huge thanks to WAFDA for putting on such a great tournament in a superb setting. The weekend ran without a hitch.
